The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation has been penalised following a complaint of contaminated food served onboard the Vande Bharat Express.
Passenger Ritesh Kumar Singh reported finding worms in curd served during his journey and documented the issue through a video. Railway staff inspected the food soon after the complaint was raised.
The incident, which quickly gained traction online, prompted action from the Ministry of Railways. The agency imposed financial penalties and ordered strict measures against the catering contractor involved.
Officials stated that maintaining hygiene and quality standards in onboard services is essential, especially in premium trains, and assured that corrective steps are being taken.
